Plastic Free July got us thinking… what are the easiest and fastest solutions that businesses can implement in order to become more sustainable? This blog explores five solutions that you could implement into your business to help it reach net zero.

Renewable Energy
Renewable projects, such as Solar PV, CHP Units, LED Lighting, Electronic Charging Ports, are demonstrating that the exploration and implementation of self-generation & energy efficiency projects are hugely beneficial to organisations on many fronts.
Once renewable solutions have been implemented it is reliable, easy to maintain and, depending on the type of renewable energy installed, can be lower long-term cost. Fossil fuels are running out and contributing to global warming, but renewable energy will always be here and won’t hurt our planet!
Yes, we admit it. Renewable Energy sources can be costly to install, however, if it’s within your budget we will always recommend it. There are many benefits for your business including being eco-friendly and potential savings!
Eco-Cleaning Products
We all want to work in a clean environment, but have you ever thought about what you’re using to clean? Many cleaning products can affect the indoor and outdoor environment through air, water and waste pollution.
Cleaning products are full of chemicals and volatile organic compounds (VOC) to be effective in killing germs – unfortunately these chemicals and compounds can also be harmful to us, animals and the planet!

Recycling
Did you know that as much as 80% of the things we throw away could be recycled? In the office, we have a recycling bin for every general waste bin! This encourages employees to recycle at no extra effort.

Plastic-Free
Reusable plastic-free solutions are being utilised now more than ever! With the UK producing five million tonnes of plastic each year, and very little of this being recyclable, we are now seeing first hand the effects that plastic waste has on our environment around us.
What are we doing to become plastic-free? Whilst thinking about the plastic we use everyday, water bottles are by far the simplest place to start. The average human needs to consume two litres of water, which is the equivalent of four plastic bottles per day. Therefore, by using a reusable bottle, you will save 1,460 plastic bottles per year!
Imagine the impact we would have if we all used reusable bottles, plus, you can personalise your bottle with a design you like!
Cycle-to-work Scheme
Having a cycle-to-work scheme in place is beneficial for individuals, businesses, and the environment. Cycling to work is a free travel option for employees (and employers!), not to mention the health benefits. Cycling has been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke and improve the symptoms of anxiety and depression.
However, businesses can also benefit from their employees cycling, due to an increase in productivity, concentration, and overall wellbeing after getting some exercise before and after work. Furthermore, choosing to cycle over driving results in less traffic congestion, air and noise pollution!
