October at Reduce My Costs is always special. Each year, our team proudly takes part in Wear It Pink to raise awareness and vital funds for Breast Cancer Now. This year was no exception — and what a day it turned out to be!
Why Breast Cancer Awareness Matters
Breast cancer awareness is more than just wearing pink — it’s about education, support, and hope. Every conversation sparked and every donation made helps fund life-saving research, raise understanding of the importance of early detection, and provide vital support to those affected. Events like Wear It Pink remind us that awareness truly can make a difference — by encouraging regular checks, breaking down stigma, and ensuring that more people have access to the help and treatment they need. Together, we can move closer to a future where breast cancer no longer claims lives.

Baking Up a Storm
In our office building’s reception, we set up a haven of home-baked goodies! From gooey brownies and spiced cupcakes to vegan treats and savoury bakes, colleagues showcased their culinary skills with a colourful spread. The bake sale proved hugely popular, with staff, friends, and neighbouring businesses stopping by to sample something sweet. All proceeds went directly to Wear It Pink.
Putting Our Knowledge to the Test
After indulging in cakes and biscuits, it was time to get competitive with our fundraising quiz. We pitted our wits against each other over questions ranging from pop culture and general knowledge to specialist trivia about pink icons and breast cancer awareness.
Boobie Bingo: A Fundraising First
This year also marked our debut of “Boobie Bingo,” which added a playful and light-hearted spin to our usual activities. With fun prizes up for grabs and plenty of enthusiasm from everyone taking part, the event was a huge hit. Not only did it provide a memorable way to engage our team, but it also sparked meaningful conversations and helped raise awareness about breast cancer.
Making an Impact Together
Across all three activities — bake sale, quiz, and boobie bingo — our team raised an incredible total for Wear It Pink. Beyond the fundraising, the day brought us closer together and reminded us why we do this every year: to support breast cancer research and those affected by it.
Did You Know...
- Around 56,900 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed annually in the UK — that’s more than 150 people every day.
- Approximately 1 in 7 women in the UK will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
- Around 11,200 deaths occur each year in the UK due to breast cancer — that’s roughly 30 deaths every day.
- The good news: more than 75% of women diagnosed survive for ten years or longer, thanks to improvements in detection and treatment.
- And importantly, it’s estimated that around 23% of breast cancer cases in the UK are linked to lifestyle factors and therefore potentially preventable.
How You Can Still Support the Cause
We’re proud of what we achieved and can’t wait to build on this momentum in the years to come. A huge thank you to everyone who baked, quizzed, shouted “bingo!” and donated. Your generosity makes a real difference.
If you weren’t able to join us on the day but would still like to support Wear It Pink, you can make a donation online. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps fund life-saving breast cancer research and support services. Click here to donate and show your support!
