Tomato Energy Has Stopped Trading
Tomato Energy has officially ceased trading, and all customers have now been transferred to British Gas through Ofgem’s Supplier of Last Resort (SoLR) process. This ensures that households and businesses remain protected when an energy supplier collapses, with no interruption to their gas or electricity supply.
British Gas Is Now Managing Your Account
As part of the SoLR appointment, British Gas has taken over responsibility for all Tomato Energy customers. This means they will now handle your billing, meter readings, and tariff information. Your energy supply continues as normal — you will not be disconnected at any stage of the transfer.

Your Credit Balance Is Safe
If you were in credit with Tomato Energy, this balance is fully protected. British Gas will honour any credit owed and apply it to your new account once everything is fully set up.
What You Should Do Now
Your New Tariff With British Gas
For now, British Gas will place former Tomato Energy customers on a deemed or standard variable tariff. Domestic customers will remain protected by the energy price cap. Once your new account is active, you are free to switch to another supplier at any time. There are no exit fees associated with leaving a Supplier of Last Resort arrangement.
Why This Has Happened
The collapse of Tomato Energy highlights the ongoing pressures facing smaller energy suppliers, including rising wholesale energy prices and strict financial regulations. Ofgem’s SoLR process exists to protect customers in exactly these situations, ensuring your supply continues and your credit balance is safeguarded.
